Trophy No. 2 for Mathieu Decottignies Lafon

Open Madaef 2015

For a long time it looked like a close decision at the 2015 Open Madaef in El Jadida in Morocco. But with a birdie on hole 13 and an amazing eagle on hole 15 Frenchman Mathieu Decottignies Lafon secured himself the winner's trophy of tournament and 5000 euro prize money. It is his second victory this season after winning the Open Mogador in February. With a total four under par (72, 66, 74/-4) the 22-year-old from Lille finally was two strokes ahead of German Sean Einhaus (72, 67, 75/-2) and Teemu Bakker from Finnland (74, 70, 70/-2).

El Jadida/Marokko − "That was the best round of golf I’ve played for quite a while!" With seven birdies and a lot of self-confindence Mathieu Decottignies Lafon returned to the clubhouse on Monday after the second round of the Open Madaef, having scored even the long distance putts with only a single bogey on his scorecard.

After winning the Open Mogador in February not everything was in favour for the Frenchman: Finishing the tournaments in Dar Es Salam as 13th and 29th, being disqualified at the Open Casa Green Golf and also missing the cut in Mohammedia last week.

"The disqualification was annoying and last week I was playing way too eager and aggressive”, Decottignies Lafon said about the last weeks.

His excellent game on the green was the base of his success at the course of the Pullman El Jadida Royal Golf & Spa. "I really took my chances for a birdie on day two and I took this positive feeling into the final round." On hole 15 he scored the decisive eagle from 150 meters.

Benjamin Rusch still leads the Order of Merit

Few moments later the 22-year-old was celebrating his victory that ranks him on 5th place of the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit. Swiss Benjamin Russ still leads the ranking list, followed by Philipp Mejow from Berlin.

After two tournaments in Egypt and eight in Morocco the Pro Golf Tour now takes a four week break until May 27 when the second half of the 2015 season starts at the Haugschlag NÖ Open in Austria.
