Swiss Benjamin Rusch triumphs in style in Rabat

Open Dar Es Salam Red Course

With three birdies on the three last holes of the tournament Benjamin Rusch from Switzerland secured himself the winner's trophy of the Open Dar Es Salam Red Course in Rabat in Morocco. After 54 holes the 25 year old had a total 3 under par on his scorecard on early Saturday evening having played rounds of 75, 70 and 71 on the demanding Red Course of Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. This finally gave him a three shot lead over Scotsman Chris Robb and German Stephan Wolters who shared second place with par in total. For Rusch who had turned pro just at the beginning of 2015 it is his maiden win as a professional.

Rabat/Morocco - A 15 meter birdie-putt on hole 16, from six meter on hole 17 and finally from about three and a half meters on the final 18th hole: Three under par on the last three holes! With a fantastic finish Tour-Rookie Benjamin Rusch saved his first title, rewarding himself for his longanimous game on the long Red Course of the Royal Golf Club Dar Es Salam. 5.000 Euro prize money and ranking points led him to the second place of the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit.

„That’s a lot of fun", Rusch exulted after the victory ceremony. "Recently I don’t do a lot of faults, which had really paid off on this difficult course. I already expected a hard fight about the par, so I kept calm." At this seasons‘opening Swiss Rusch had shared second place at the Red Sea Egyptian Classic, since when he reached another two top-10 and three top-20 results.

Constancy and a straight drive are his long suits. Rusch: "This year I haven’t even played a single bad round." He feels like home on the Pro Golf Tour, everything being well organized. His aim for 2015: "To play as good as possible and then we’ll see, how far I get."

The Pro Golf Tour continues on April 14 with the Open Casa Green Golf 2015, which will take place in Casablanca. It is the sixth out of eight tournaments in Morocco this year.
