Second season win for German Thomas Rosenmüller
ALTEPRO Trophy by EXTEC 2020
Thanks to a strong and consistent performance across three days – and a particularly brilliant final round – German Thomas Rosenmüller secured himself the victory of the ALTEPRO Trophy by EXTEC 2020 and celebrates his second win of the season in the Czech Republic. After 54 holes, a round of 70 and two rounds of 69 on the GC Sokolov and GC Kynzvart courses, the professional from Munich finished 7 under par overall – five shots clear of the two Frenchmen Alexandre Petit and Julien Brun, who both fin-ished 2 under par to share second place. The 6000 ranking points associated with the title also took the champion to first place in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit again.
Kynzvart / Czech Republic – “I’m very happy to be out in the rain! I always feel great and actually play very well!” Rosenmüller, 23, underlined how well he played in heavy rain on the final day of the ALTEPRO Trophy by EXTEC 2020 in the Czech Republic – the 10th tournament of the Pro Golf Tour 2020 which was played across two courses and has a total pot of €40,000. On the first day, Rosenmüller overcame the par 72 course at GC Kynzvart with 70 strokes, demonstrating some solid shots and safe irons. He then hit 69 on the par 71 course at GC Sokolov, putting him in joint 3rd with the Swiss Jeremy Freiburghaus on 4 under par.
After 36 holes, both lay three strokes be-hind the leader Julien Brun of France, ranked number 1 in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit; second place was occupied by the Swiss Marco Iten on 6 under par. On the third day – once again at Kynzvart – Thomas Rosenmüller took no fewer than eight strokes from the Frenchman, thus confidently securing his second win of the season following his victory at the Open Palmeraie Country Club in Morocco in February, showing just how phenomenally the Munich resident played in the final round.
At 3 under par, he secured the best result of the entire field by some distance in the last round – the Frankfurt native Lukas Euler, who finished fourth on 1 under par, was the only other player to finish under par on that day. “I like it when the conditions are challenging,” said Rosenmüller, who didn’t allow himself to be affected by the persis-tent, cold and damp rain or strong gusts of wind. After a birdie and a bogey on holes 1 and 4, he hit three birdies on the way back to the club house, remaining otherwise error free and lifting the trophy a short time later.
The new No. 1 of the Order of Merit
In addition to the €6,000 prize money, he was awarded the same number of ranking points, putting Rosenmüller into the lead in the Pro Golf Tour 2020 rankings after ten of the 13 tournaments.
The German and Julien Brun now have three more opportunities to secure a third vic-tory of the season, the stated aim for both. The first opportunity comes this week when the Pro Golf Tour is being hosted by the Schladming Dachstein golf club in Austria for the first time between 2 and 4 September. A total of €30,000 – and the same amount of ranking points – are up for grabs at the Schladming Dachstein Open 2020 powered by EURAM BANK.
