Maiden win for German Martin Keskari in Morocco
Open Samanah 2015
It is his first season as a professional, but 22 year old Martin Keskari from Frankfurt in Germany has a more than convincing start into his career as a tour player: With a total 6 under par after scoring rounds of 70, 69 and 71 he secured himself the trophy of the 2015 Open Samanah in Marrakech in Morocco and celebrates his maiden win. Runner-up with -5: Teemu Bakker from Finnland and Philipp Mejow from Berlin/Germany.
Marrakech/Morocco − For a long time on this final day of the Open Samanah 2015 in Marrakech in Morocco it looked like Dutchman Reinier Saxton would be able to realize his 2nd win this season. But then the man from Amsterdam, triumphator of the 2015 season opening in Egypt, played a Quadruple Bogey on the second last hole of his tournament. He gave away his chance to gain victory, and as minutes later his playing partner Philipp Mejow bogeyed the 18th hole of the Samanah Country Club is was time for German Martin Keskari to realize that he had just made his maiden victory as a tourplayer.
"I did not really expect to win so early on the tour", Keskari said, "but I am definitely very happy and I think the start into my first season as a professional could not be better." Just 4 weeks ago Keskari, a formerly very successful German Amateur, had turned pro, and his win in Morocco is an impressive proof that this was a qood decision. "It feels very good to play on the Pro Golf Tour. The golf courses are excellent and likewise demanding", the 22 year old from Frankfurt says, "everything is very new and exciting for me, but I do feel quite comfortable."
The Open Samanah was the first of a series of no less than eight tournaments in Morocco during the next months. Event No 2. will tee off next Thursday with the Open Al Maaden.
