Ain Suchna, Egypt – First win for Filip Mruzek at the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2025. The Czech won at the Sokhna Golf Club thanks to a flawless 63 in the final round with a five-stroke lead over Egyptian amateur Issa Abou El Ela. Nicolas Horder (Germany) finished in third place.

A sensational birdie series at the perfect time: the race for victory in the final of the second of a total of four tournaments at Sokhna Golf Club was extremely exciting for a long time. Then one of the title contenders set a pace in once again fantastic conditions that his rivals could no longer keep up with. Filip Mruzek had climbed to the top of the field early on in the final round with four birdies on the front nine. He then showed all his class: the 33-year-old was able to put five birdies in a row on his card from hole 13 onwards - and decisively pulled away from the competition with the lowest round of the tournament.

He only made two bogeys in the entire week of the tournament, and with a total score of 21 under par, his fellow competitor in the final group, Egyptian amateur Issa Abou El Ela, had no choice but to offer his fair congratulations despite his first-class performance. In the end, after 65, 67 and a sensational 63 strokes, Mruzek's first victory on the Pro Golf Tour gave him a five-shot lead over the 30-year-old El Ela, who had already attracted attention with sixth place at last year's event.

The big dream of the DP World Tour
Mruzek, who lives in Prague and trains at Greensgate Golf near Pilsen, is one of the most experienced players in the field. The 33-year-old has been travelling as a profes-sional since 2010, has had status on the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly Challenge Tour) for years and most recently finished 33rd at the DP World Tour's guest appearance in Mauritius. ‘I'm absolutely delighted with the win and this incredible round,’ he said. ‘Everything worked at the crucial time. I hit the fairways and greens and then the putts dropped as well.’

Order of Merit of the 2025 Season

The title debutant has big goals for the current season. ‘The form is very good, my game is where it needs to be and I'm giving it my all to fulfil my dream of playing on the DP World Tour this season,’ he explained. ‘The Pro Golf Tour is a great way to open the season. The competition is huge and you have to play incredibly low to be at the front here.’

Mruzek was also enthusiastic about the venue, which has been firmly anchored in the Pro Golf Tour's tournament calendar for more than a decade. ‘It's a course where the short and medium irons are particularly important. The conditions were outstanding, making it all the more fun to go birdie hunting.’

‘Great success for us...’
‘As always, it was a great success for us,’ said Ali Mohamed, Director of Golf at Sokhna Golf Club. ‘We have been here for twelve years and it is always a great pleasure to welcome the players here at Sokhna Golf Club at the beginning of the season. Since this year, we have been able to offer players and visitors even more comfort with the new The G Hotel. It's a success story for everyone involved.’
Martin Obtmeier retains the lead in the Order of Merit. The winner of the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Open 2025 the previous week finished the tournament in eighth place. Mruzek climbed to second place, with Michael Hirmer (3), Carl Siemens (4) and Philipp Katich (5) completing the top five.

Next week, the Pro Golf Tour aces will continue in Hungary. The Zala Springs Open 2025 (25 to 27 March) is on the agenda at the Zala Springs Golf Resort in the immediate vicinity of Lake Balaton.
