Title debut: Siemens wins team-mate duel
Lykia Links Open 2025
Carl Siemens celebrates his first victory as a professional at the Lykia Links Open 2025.
Antalya, Turkey – Second tournament, second German triumph: Carl Siemens is the second winner of the Pro Golf Tour in 2025 after Michael Hirmer, who triumphed at the start of the season. During the final round at Lykia Links Golf, there were still many signs that the winner of the Golf Mad Open, Michael Hirmer, would win a double in Turkey - in the end, however, the 27-year-old had to settle for a share of third place after two bogeys on the last two holes. The late mistakes opened the door for two other Germans to potentially claim their first victory on the Pro Golf Tour: Carl Siemens and Philipp Katich, both team-mates at GC St. Leon-Rot, reached the play-off with a total score of four under par. Siemens made a birdie on the very first extra hole - and was therefore delighted to win his first title as a professional.
‘I'm very relieved and happy,’ said the 20-year-old champion after the thrilling final. ‘When I started the round, I wasn't expecting it at all. I just wanted to play my game and create chances. On the course, things can quickly go in the other direction. So I'm very happy with how I managed to stay in the moment.’ Siemens' final round of 68 (-3) included an eagle on hole 6, but the key to his success on the day was above all his mental performance: ’I always try to stay in the here and now. I try to see every shot, every tournament as something new and not think about what I've achieved.’
'It was a bit more relaxed'
The constellation in the play-off was a special one: Siemens and Katich know each other well. Both play for GC St. Leon-Rot and are coached by the same coach. ‘So we were very close to each other over the last few days. For our coach, Marco Schmuck, it was a win-win situation in the play-off. In terms of feeling, it was a bit more relaxed because we know each other so well and have often played together.’ The fact that Siemens is in good form was demonstrated by his shared eighth place at the season opener. At the beginning of the year, golf was not his main focus. The Berliner, who turned professional in September, has been part of the Bundeswehr's sports promotion group since this year and completed his basic training in January. ‘So I came here a few days earlier to get into the rhythm of the game.’

Order of Merit of the 2025 Season
Siemens had high praise for the greenkeeping team at Lykia Links Golf and the organisation. The weather conditions, including strong winds and interruptions, made the already challenging task of organising two tournaments in a row even more difficult. ‘The greenkeepers did a very good job of keeping the course in good condition. The greens felt just as good today as they did on the first day.’ He also really enjoyed being able to live right next to the golf course and therefore have short distances to the training facilities.
Bekir Kara, head of the exclusive tour operator Golf Mad Travel and Events, also knew how challenging the week was for everyone involved: ‘We are very grateful that we were able to successfully organise another Pro Golf Tour event. It was a tough week, especially for the players, with the strong wind and cold weather. But the Pro Golf Tour did a great job of completing the tournaments without any major delays. We look forward to welcoming the Pro Golf Tour back to Turkey next year.’
After the two tournaments at Lykia Links Golf, four Germans occupy the top four places in the Order of Merit: Michael Hirmer (1), Carl Siemens (2), Philipp Katich (3) and Philipp Macionga (4).
The Pro Golf Tour now travels to Egypt, where the Red Sea Ain Sokhna Open 2025 is on the programme from 11 to 13 March, followed by the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2025 (16 to 18 March).
