Taghazout: First win for Martin Keskari in 2016
Open Tazegzout 2016
Martin Keskari from Frankfurt/Germany has won the the Open Tazegzout 2016. With 9 under par the 23-year-old was able to win out over his fellow countryman Patrick Kopp.
Taghazout/Morocco − Martin Keskari has done it again: Another victory for the 23-year-old in Morocco after he had already won the Open Samanah 2015. In Taghazout Keskari played rounds of 69, 70 and 68 and secured himself the victory two strokes ahead of his fellow countryman Patrick Kopp. The third rank is shared by German Stephan Gross and Dutchman Robbie van West, each with 6 under par.
“This is definitely one of the most beautiful courses we’ve ever played on in Morocco!” Martin Keskari was impressed by the amazing scenery that surrounded him on a fantastic par-72-course of Tazegzout Golf, which is located 20 km north of Agadir in Morocco: “The greens are pretty hard and fast, the layout is very diversified. That’s just my line!” On the first day Martin Keskari, who had already won three Pro Golf Tour events in 2015 and finished the season as fourth of the Order of Merit, finished the round with a solid 69, which laid the foundation of his victory. Even though, he still was four strokes behind the leader Anton Kirstein from Germany, but soon after, at the end of day 2, Keskari shared the lead with Frenchman Antoine Schwartz. But while Schwartz played a 72 on the final day, Keskari was able to score a 68 with five birdies at only one bogey. Patrick Kobb also had a great tournament scoring 7 under par after rounds of 72, 70 and 67.
A little solace for Antoine Schwartz: As shared fifth of the tournament, the Frenchman takes over the lead in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit with 7018,33 ranking points.
“From the beginning I tried to play aggressively, which was the right concept”, Keskari said. During the winter-break he had practiced a lot in California and with his coach Jan Förster in Frankfurt. “The practice works out pretty well as far as now. I am glad that I was able to bring it on the course”, the 23-year-old who prepares for his Challenge Tour season said.
At the beginning of March 2016 the Pro Golf Tour continues in Morocco, as the Open Tony Jacklin will be hosted the first time from March 6to 8 and two days later the Open Casa Green 2016 will take place again. Both tournaments are held in Casablanca.
