One week after the thrilling season finale of the Pro Golf Tour at Castanea Golf Resort, the 2024 season came to a rousing conclusion with the Q-School. A total of 192 candi-dates competed in the north and south of Germany to secure the lowest possible cate-gory on the Pro Golf Tour for the coming year. The two Q-School tournaments took place simultaneously over 36 holes on the Engel & Völkers Course at Fleesensee Golf and the Holledau golf course. The collective goal of the participants: a place in the top ten and the associated category 5 tour card.

Van der Voort shines at Fleesensee
Bob van der Voort played spectacular golf at the Q-School I at Fleesensee. The Dutchman, who only turned professional a few weeks ago, crowned his top perfor-mance on the first day with an ace. A dream shot with the 8 iron found its way into the hole from 143 metres on the fourth hole of the Engel & Völkers Course. The new pro, who managed another eagle on hole seven, finished round one with 66 strokes. He de-fended his lead with a very solid 70 on day two and was delighted with his victory with an overall score of eight under par. Jiri Zuska from the Czech Republic finished one shot behind the winner.

‘I'm very happy,’ commented van der Voort. ‘I was very nervous before the tournament, but the good start with the ace as the highlight lowered my pulse a little. My game was very good, especially from the tee shot to the green. I really liked the course. I like the differences in elevation and the quality of the fairways and greens is excellent.’

Bonte wins in the Holledau
The race for first place at the Holledau golf course was clearer. With 67 strokes on day one and a sensational 64 on Wednesday, Louis Bonte set a pace that his rivals were unable to keep up with. The Frenchman won Q-School II in mostly sunny weather on the picturesque course in the middle of the world's largest hop-growing region with a total of eleven under par and a five-stroke lead over Loris Schüpbach (Switzerland) and Charles Weis (Luxembourg).

‘I only found out two days ago that I was in the field,’ revealed the winner. ‘Of course, that makes the win extra special. My long game worked really well. That's very im-portant here, as you get a lot of birdie opportunities, but some holes are also very diffi-cult. All in all, I had a lot of fun on this course.’

In addition to the full tour card for the players in the top 10, the players who finished the two tournaments in 11th to 30th place (category 8) and 31st to 45th place (category 10) can also look forward to a few starts on the Pro Golf Tour in 2025.

After a brilliant end to the season at Fleesensee and in Holledau, the Pro Golf Tour is now taking its winter break. Not least due to the top performances at the Q-School, the anticipation for the coming season is as high as it can be.
