Ain Sokhna/Egypt – In 2016 Subregis had already placed himself on the winners’ podium, three times the Frenchman was able to finish a Pro Golf Tour event as second. At the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2017 he was finally able to triumph. After he noted a solid 70 on his scorecard after day 1 the man from Vieux Boucau was able to score 69 in the second round and secured the seventh rank on the leaderboard. While the 21-year-old hit four birdies on the Back Nine on Wednesday, the day after he managed to improve with an eagle on top at the final round. That eagle also made him overtake Pedro Figueiredo to assume the leadership. With 66 Subregis scored the lowest round of the day, needing one stroke less than the the Portuguese (67/ 71/ 68) in the end.

“It seems like the first victory is the hardest one”, Subregis said more than happy after his success. “I’m very glad, now that I’ve won my first trophy, and also the way I won makes me confident: Playing 6 under on the last nine holes proves that I can handle the pressure. Also the course was really great. It’s in a perfect condition and the short grass is great to hit balls off.”

With the Red Sea Egyptian Classic the Pro Golf Tour has successfully begun its 2017 season. On Monday the second event of the year will start, as the players will again compete on the same facility for 30.000 Euro prize money and as much ranking points. The 27 fairways of the Sokhna Golf Club will be combined to an alternate 18-hole-round and 96 professionals will participate.
