Zell am See/ Austria – It had been in the making: Ondrej Lieser started in Zell am See for the third time in 2018 on the Pro Golf Tour; in Liberec he had shared the third rank, finished the Polish Open in June on rank 2. Now he celebrated his first big victory. With a birdie on hole 18 in his last round the man from Pardubice in Czech Republic forced himself into a playoff with the leader Craig Howie; there he got the win with a birdie on the second extra-hole. Lieser had already proved his mental strenght in round 2, as he flawlessly egalised the 64 stroke course record that had been set one day earlier by Austrian Amateur Maximilian Steinlechner. With 10 under par (66 + 64) Lieser took over the lead after 36 holes – and this time nobody took take the win away from him. „I’m very happy about this victory! It’s great to leave that playoff as the winner“, the 26-year-old said after his triumph. „On the final day in Poland I had to play a total 42 holes of tournament-Golf. After that I spent the following two days in bed regenerating. But that experience helped me today to stay calm and trust in my abilities“, Lieser said. „Also, I’d like to thank the Golfclub Zell am See for hosting this tournament! It was fun to play here. Especially the greenkeepers did an amazing job, the course is in an absolutely fantastic shape!“

A compliment, that is approved by outstanding results on the „Schmittenhöhe“ course of the Golfclub Zell am See - Kaprun – Saalbach-Hinterglemm: The cut was at -2 and the former course record of 66 strokes, that had been set by Bernhard Langer in 1992, was broken multiple times in this tournament. On the first and second day with rounds of 64 by Steinlechner and Lieserm and on the final round German Jonas Kölbing even achieved a 63 that made him finish as shared third.

The next Pro Golf Tour event will start on August 6 as the Leipziger Golf Open 2018 takes place at the Golf & Country Club Leipzig. 40.000 Euros prize money and as much ranking points will be on the line.
