A tournament where winners are born
Open Madaef 2015
This Sunday the Open Madaef starts again in El Jadida. Amongst the players it might be one of the most memorable tournaments in Pro Golf Tour history. A challenging course, an amazing atmosphere and the ardent Moroccan sun make the Open Madaef a great ending of the Pro Golf Tour’s Morocco-series 2015. In El Jadida only the best will have a chance to raise the trophy into the sky after 54 holes − quite as last year’s overall winner Marcel Schneider did.
El Jadida/Morocco on April 10th 2014: Marcel Schneider has done it. A perfect round of 68 brings the 24-year-old from Pleidelsheim/Germany his second victory in the 2014 season. This leads him to the first place in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit. The Open Madaef - a tournament Schneider will keep in mind. It was the foundation of his overall victory in 2014 and by that of his promotion to the Challenge Tour. His overall victory also made him earn a wildcard for the European Tour tournament Trophée Hassan II, where Schneider put himself in the spotlight by reaching a Top 10 ranking just a few weeks ago. All of that was based on his victory in El Jadida.
„The course is very difficult to play“, Schneider mentioned, „the fairways are partly very tight, so you have to be able to play both curves to score well.“
Participants in this year are for example the leader of the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit, Benjamin Rusch from Switzerland, also German Philipp Mejow and Dutchman Reinier Saxton, who are ranked as second and third. Another Dutchman will compete: Robin Kind will try to win this year, after he had reached third place last year. An extraordinary starting field at a tournament that will again thrill the spectators with high-level golf. The event that includes 30.000 Euros prize money is the last of eight Pro Golf Tour events in Morocco. A series full of great tournaments and sometimes surprising winners. At the Pullman El Jadida Royal Golf & Spa the competition will bring who’s the one to win this hard event and cheer under the Morrocan sky.
