59! Robin Kind and the round of his life
Sensational score
He did the unbelievable: The Dutchman Robin Kind played a fantastic round of 59 today at the Sparkassen Open 2015. He is the first player ever from the Netherlands that was able to perform such an incredible round. A perfect day for Kind, who could present eleven birdies and one eagle on his scorecard as he came back after finishing round two. With 17 strokes under par Kind takes the -lead on the par 72- course of the Bochumer Golfclub.
Bochum − Kind turned Bochum into his own personal playground, firing an eye-popping 13-under-par 59. He slipped ten ranks ahead on the tournaments leaderboard. But the 59 will stay forever. On only 6 holes he had played par. On the other twelve the Dutchman never needed played worse than birdie. Without even having played one single bogey Kind left his opponents far behind.
A bright, sunny Tuesday morning welcomed the players and visitors of the Sparkassen Open 2015, after a storm had ended round one early the day before. Robin Kind had only needed 68 strokes on the first 18 holes, which would also be a good result. But nobody, not even Kind himself, would have expected what happened today.
Only one player in the history of the Pro Golf Tour was able to score even: In 2006 Martin Kaymer from Mettmann, Germany could also play a 59. Five years later he led the World Ranking of Golf.
Only 25 players have ever proven reached the same result as Kind including stars like Gary Player or Phil Mickelson. The 23-year-old Dutchman will probably be asked throughout his whole carreer about that special day in August ’15.
